1. IIT Bombay

At pole position among all the Indian Institutes of Technology is IIT Bombay. Located in the Powai area of Mumbai, it was founded in 1958, and is the second oldest among the IITs. While the flagship B.Tech course of IIT Bombay draws thousands of young aspirants every year, its courses in social sciences such as Sociology and Philosophy are also popular. IIT also offers 17 interdisciplinary centres where students can take a list of courses. From the last 5 years, the top 75% of top 100 ranks in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) choose IIT Bombay. 5. IIT Roorkee

Established way back in 1847, this is the oldest technical institution in the continent of Asia. A formal ‘University’ status was accorded to it in 1949, and 52 years later, in 2001, it was given the status of an IIT. Besides engineering, one is also likely to be impressed by the humanities and applied sciences departments of this institution.

6. IIT Chennai

8. IIT (BHU) Varanasi

IIT (BHU), Varanasi has 13 departments and three inter-disciplinary schools. The departments of Metallurgical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mining Engineering and Chemical Engineering have been recognized as Centres of Advanced Studies (CAS) by the UGC of India. The Department of Metallurgical Engineering was the first engineering department in India to be thus recognized.

Xiaomi’s new drone is astonishingly cheap—but it won’t save Xiaomi

Today China’s Xiaomi announced its latest product—a drone priced at 2999 yuan ($456) for a model with a 4k camera, and 2499 yuan ($380) for a version with a lower resolution 1080p camera. Xiaomi says that a pre-orders will begin for the 1080p version tomorrow, while a beta version for the 4k version will be given out to select users. In true Xiaomi fashion, the device is priced astonishingly low compared to competitor models. Chinese manufacturer DJI’s Phantom 3 drone, for example, sells for $800. The drone marks Xiaomi’s most ambitious product yet, and comes at a pivotal moment for the company.
