Rankings of all NITs in INDIA
The National Institutes of Technology (NIT) are among the top colleges in the country. Indeed, they are the motivating factor for lakhs of students appearing for the JEE Mains exam every year.
The NITs were declared to be “Institutions of National Importance” by the Government of India in 2007. They started in 1959 as RECs (Regional Engineering Colleges) and became NITs (sister institutes to all the IITs) after 2002.
Ranks and Ranking Factors of NITs
These institutes are very strongly backed by government funding, which means- High Quality education and facilities at a fraction of the cost to students. Due to the high competition for NIT seats, they also attract some of the best students from across the country, which benefits both the students and their institute alike.
Following are the ranking factors considered while ranking these institutes:
- Placement percentage
- Placement packages
- Infrastructure
- Faculty
- Brand value
- Cut Off Ranks
Ranking of all National Institutes of Technology 2015
The variety of factors involved in rankings makes ranking such institutes a difficult task. For example, according to the opening and closing ranks (one of the criteria used to rank colleges), NIT Durgapur would rank in the top 15. Similarly, NIT Silchar by thequality of its campus would rank within the top 10. Hence, since there is not one single criteria used for the rankings, some dispute is inevitable. This is why we continuously update the list based on what factors are most important to students.
